CHALMETTE, LA: UNO Federal Credit Union (UNOFCU) announced that its Field of Membership (FOM) has expanded to serve those who live, work and attend school in both St. Bernard and Orleans Parishes. This is the first credit union in the history of St. Bernard that is open to all St. Bernard Parish citizens based on geographic area. UNOFC officials expressed excitement over the expansion as a huge milestone for both UNOFCU and for St. Bernard Parish.
Chartered in 1972, UNOFCU is a full-service financial institution originally opened to serve the University of New Orleans (UNO) community members and their families. UNOFCU offers a wide range of services including vehicle loans, mortgage loans, savings accounts, checking accounts, payroll deduction and direct deposit. Members can access their accounts electronically 24 hours a day through debit cards, home banking and mobile device banking.
“With this expansion” says UNOFCU CEO Chris Maurer, “St. Bernard Parish now has its very own UNO credit union and we are so excited to commit to providing its citizens with a safe, convenient and competitive option for financial products and services. We are so delighted to be a part of this wonderful community and look forward to being an active participant in our new members’ financial future as well as that of St. Bernard Parish.”
The UNOFCU Chalmette branch is in the St. Bernard Parish Government Complex on the first floor at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This branch, as well as their UNO campus location, both serve as shared credit union branches, meaning members of other credit unions within the Co-op Shared Branch network can access their credit union accounts at UNOFCU. UNOFCU members also have access to their accounts at thousands of locations nationwide!
UNOFC kicked off the carnival season and welcomed St. Bernard Parish members to their new Chalmette branch located in the St. Bernard Parish Government Complex on Friday, January 20th with their “Join our Krewe” party. King cakes and coffee from local establishments along with a generous quantity of Mardi Gras themed door prizes filled the atrium of the St. Bernard Government Complex.
